Roxy Paine #2

"At his (Roxy Paine's, hk)studio in Treadwell, NY, a model was made to work out the complex configuration of a three-dimensional Dendroid structure. Then, Paine and his staff created the sculpture Ferment from shining pipes, plates and rods of stainless steel. The pieces were transported on a flatbed truck and permanently assembled at the Nelson-Atkins in April 2011.
....
Installation in the Kansas City Sculpture Park occurred over a two-week period in April, 2011. The artist and his assistants welded the sculpture together on site, within a fenced area."

Roxy Paine documents the installation process photographically. Model for Ferment (2010) is at left.
